MLK Community Pool & Community Center was named in honor of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.  This wonderfully well-maintained pool is FREE for use by all visitors to Key West and residents. Cool off  or swim laps as you take in the gorgeous ocean views.  The park is located at the intersection of Thomas and Catherine Streets.  There is ample streetside parking on both streets.  Get off the beaten path and enjoy Key West like a local.  The pool is open from 9-7 Monday through Thursday and 10-6pm Friday to Sunday.  Bring the wee ones and enjoy a nice baby pool in addition to the large ovate lap pool.  No food or drink aside from water in clear plastic containers are allowed into the pool area.  Within the same area is the Willie Ward and Nelson English Parks which offer plenty of space for play.  Kids can clamber and climb around on the playground equipment.  Families can enjoy a nice shaded picnic or partake in a game of basketball.  All the ingredients are present for a wonderful affordable family day out in Key West.
