Kayak Kings of Key West
Join the Kayak Kings in Key West for a paddle through the serene beauty that surrounds the keys. The Kayak Kings offer both equipment/kayak rentals as well as guided tours through multiple habitats. The local kayaking trails are great for those who are new to kayaking as well as those who are experienced. Take an adventure on their Mangrove Mazes Tour that weaves through canopies of these aquatic trees. Observe the wildlife that call these trees their home including shrimp, turtles, crabs and majestic birds. The mangrove and salt ponds tour lasts about 2-2.5 hours and costs abot $50 per person. This guided tour includes the kayak, paddle, safety vest, snorkel gear, a whistle and a seat with a back. Alternatively, you can challenge yourself with a fishing trip via kayak. Fishing from a kayak is the best way to access the most shallow of the flats areas to snag Bonefish,Tarpon, Permit, Snook, Sharks, Snappers and much more. The tour costs $99 for 3 hours, extra if you are not providing your own bait and tackle. A Florida State Salt Water fishing license must be in hand to take this tour. For a more breath-taking tour, book a limited spot for one of the few days that Kayak Kings guides a Moonlight Tour through the mangroves. Watch the sunset and then be guided back through the maze of mangroves under the light of the moon and some glow sticks. If you are more of an independent/private kayaker, you can rent single or tandem kayaks 7 days a week for $30-$50 for two hours, $10 for each additional hour.
Kayak Kings of Key West can offer small group private tours featuring snorkeling, "off the beaten path" Key West or Snipes Key. Their 24 foot boat may also be rented for the 1/2 day or full day. Take your time to enjoy beach combing, snorkeling, and exploring the natural beauty of the Keys. Snipes Key is about 15 miles northeast of Key West and is in the Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge that is criss-crossed with kayak trails to traverse. The northern side of Snipes Key at low tide becomes a beautiful sandy beach. There is amazing wildlife to see and fishing to be had. You can also go out to Boca Grande to snorkel an old shipwreck or take a trip to Western Sambo and marvel at the amazing coral at the shallow water reef out there. These tours are restricted to just 6 passengers and cost about $300. The trip duration is 3 to 4 hours and includes a captain & guide, snorkel gear, water and ice. You may bring your own refreshments along.
