The Camp Owaissa Bauer is considered one of the hidden treasures of Miami-Dade Country Parks & Recreation. A nice getaway from the hectic city life, this campsite is located in Homestead, Florida, United States. The park itself is built on a 110 acre area and contains plenty of trails that teach both children and adults interesting facts about the ecology/geology of The Sunshine State. It's equipped with vast facilities to house up to 160 campers overnight or for prolonged periods of time.

Homestead Bayfront Park

The Homestead Bayfront Park is a beautiful beach park and marina in Miami-Dade County. The marina is located at Convoy Point next to the Biscayne National Park Headquarters, and can be accessed via boat. Families like to come here to enjoy the beautiful coral reefs, the natural atoll pool, and the wildlife of the Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary and the Biscayne National Park. You can easily launch your boats or kayaks from the marina boat docks.

Gwen Cherry Park

Gwen Cherry Park in Miami-Dade County was named after Gwen Cherry, the first African-American woman to ever be elected to the Florida Legislature. This park is the park for the sports enthusiasts and the youth of the city. The park really works hard to reach out to the community with its various sports programs like a Pop Warner Youth League and the Boys and Girls Club of Miami.

Larry & Penny Thompson Park

The Larry & Penny Thompson Park is a first class campground in Miami-Dade County. This beautiful campground is right next door to the Zoo Miami. The park is named after the late Thompsons who were avid campers and civic leaders in in South Florida. This campground is one of the last portions of leftover wilderness in Miami! The University of Miami used to own this land and there are remnants left of their old fruit groves.

Chapman Field Park

Chapman Field Park is widely recognized as the field that was used by the army during World War I. The origin of the park is quite an interesting history, but what it has to offer is much more than the history itself. The 483-acre urban park is located in Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The largest part of the area still remains as mangrove swamps while the rest is the Park.



Highland Oaks Park

The Highland Oaks Park in the northern Miami-Dade County houses one of the last remaining freshwater wetlands located at the headwaters of the renowned Oleta River. It is the only natural river remaining in the Miami-Dade County. The Highland Oaks Park is a huge park with a number of open fields. It is a favorite place for the athletes. The park also has boardwalks that are accessible by all, a fishing dock and trails. The most popular trails include the Black Oak Barren Trail & Spring Lake Trail.

Coral Villas Park

Coral Villas Park is a lovely little park with an amazing play structure in Miami Dade County. This is a newer park that opened in 2013. The park was developed with lots of nice walkways and natural landscaping. The perimeter of the entire park is planted with native shrubs that require little water and care. These large shrubs provide privacy to the neighbors of the park and food for the wildlife. New Tamarind and Oak trees have been planted near the already established Oaks with the purpose of providing more beautiful and shady areas in the years to come.

Sunrise Civic Center and Aquatic Complex

The Sunrise Civic Center and Aquatic Complex was established in 1998. This 80,000 sq. ft. facility has a theatre, art gallery, banquet hall, athletic club and an aquatics center. This great community treasure offers several fun filled activities for all ages throughout the year.

Wellington Community Center

The Wellington Community Center is located in a large municipal complex that includes several gems in the Wellington community.  Found in the same area are the city hall building, the wonderful 911 tribute with a piece of the World Trade Center on display, Scotts barrier free playground, the amphitheater and more.  The center itself consists of a large, multi-use facility with over 28,000 square feet.  Residents can rent the facility, which has a lovely open air patio, for their own private functions like baby showers or birthdays.
