The Miami-Dade County area is hot pretty much the entire year. At Palm Springs North Pool, the pool and splash playground are open year-round to the public.  The Palm Springs North Park & Pool is located within the Norman & Jean Reach Park.  The pool is also referred to as the Norman & Jean Reach Pool. Amenities are offered for all ages, from the very young to the elderly. Safety is the top priority, therefore many lifeguards are on duty every day. Palm Springs North Pool is equipped with pool lifts, allowing disabled or elderly citizens to come for a swim. There is also a splash playground where toddlers can come and play.

Boys and girls of all ages are taught how to swim by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. Throughout the year, Palm Springs North Pool offers many camps and programs for children and youth. All of the programs focus on fitness, nutrition and wellness. Don't worry, though, all sessions during the school year begin with helping children complete their homework before the fun begins. Transportation is offered to Palm Springs North Pool from a selected variety of schools.

Palm Springs North Pool offers swimming lessons and water safety courses to adults, and is a part of a program for adults ages 55 and up that focuses on encouraging the elderly generation to improve their health and overall well-being. This program joined with Walgreens and hosts clinics where participants can receive Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Glucose Screenings and immunizations for Flu, Pneumonia and Shingles. 

Miami-Dade County is home to several adults and children who have never been taught to swim. Many of these people also lack the safety knowledge dealing with being in or around pools, lakes, canals and our many beaches; these waters hold many hazards that only few people are aware of. In 2011, Jenny Nguyen lost her life in a horrible drowning incident. Palm Springs North Pool is one of the many pools in the Miami-Dade County area that participate in a memorial fund, "Swim for Jenny". Each year, a fundraising event is held where participants swim a cumulative number of laps of a pool to raise money for scholarships for learn-to-swim lessons for children who need but can't afford them; the fund also provides youth in the Miami-Dade area with water safety information.
