Brian Piccolo Park & Velodrome
Brian Picolo Park & Velodrome was named after a local Ft. Lauderdale kid who made pro with the NFL. Brian Piccolo was a player for the Chicago Bears after getting his fundamentals playing in Ft. Lauderdale as a youth, this park is his local legacy. Brian Piccolo Park has a major emphasis on sports with a Velodrome, lighted basketball courts, tennis center, four lighted softball fields, four lighted multipurpose fields (two for Little League), three lighted soccer/football fields, two cricket fields, and one unlighted practice field.
If you like to really move on some wheels, this park has everything a rolling enthusiast needs. The Velodrome is a 333.3 meter cycling track with a banked 200-meter inline skating track. Skaters, BMX bikers and skateboarders can enjoy the 35,000 square feet of wooden ramps and courses on the Piccolo Skate Park. The Road Course within the 175+ acre Brian Piccolo Park has 2 courses for runners, cyclists and walkers, one is 500 meters long and the other 800. Bikes may be rented from the park.
Tennis and Raquetball can be had at the Brian Piccolo Tennis Center which includes a dozen lighted clay tennis courts, six lighted four-wall racquetball courts, and a pro shop. Throughout the park are picnic areas with grills that are free to use if available. One large picnic area and a meeting room may be rented or reserved online. The meeting room is set up like a classroom with a 50-person capacity.
