Butterfly World in South Florida is the largest butterfly park in the world. It houses more than 10,000 butterflies and there are many more flying around which makes it difficult to count them! No wonder, it provides the visitors a unique opportunity to spend an entire day in the midst of nature. 

Located within Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek,  Butterfly World is home to more than 150 species of butterflies but some are seasonal species and not visible throughout the year. The outdoor aviaries have around 50 varieties of butterflies which offer a truly unforgettable experience. There are no viewing exhibits which means you can actually experience the butterfly habitat all by yourself. There are high fences in the aviaries and you can actually walk through them. So don’t be surprised if a butterfly lands on your shoulder or camera! 

Butterfly World is one of the best family oriented tourist destinations in South Florida and a must-visit if you are travelling with kids. They will learn a lot about the different butterflies, the butterfly lifecycle, the plants that attract them and learn about butterfly gardening. The park also organizes a Butterfly Gardening Workshop every month where kids are encouraged to identify and attract the local butterflies. The entry to the workshop is free when you pay the admission fees for Butterfly World.  Butterfly World is not about butterflies only. It also houses the largest free-flight hummingbird aviary in the United States. Bug lover in your family?  Be sure to see the huge live centipedes, roaches and spiders safely behind glass and on display in a separate building.  There is a stunning display of pinned butterflies and moths on display that are also worth a look.

Children under 2 years of age are admitted free. You can usually print a $3 discount coupon from www.butterflyworld.com which will further reduce your admission prices. It must be noted that since Butterfly World is located inside the Broward County Park you need to pay a gate fee of $1.50 with a maximum of $8 per car or van. No need to leave the park once you enter since there is food available for purchase within Butterfly World and if the kids want to clamber around there is a picnic area with playground adjacent.  Parking is plentiful and free
