Joseph C. Carter Park
Joseph C. Carter Park is located just east of I-95 off the Sunrise Blvd exit on the south side of the road. This 21.6 acre Fort Lauderdale park has so much to offer. It is most popular for its large lighted athletic facilities for football, track, baseball, tennis, and basketball. J.C. Carter Park now has new pickle ball courts and raquetball to enjoy. There is an indoor gymnsasium, annex, social center, and recreation center. Families and groups can rent pavilions located throughout the park.
Phil Foster Park
Phil Foster Park is a 15+ acre park in Riviera Beach located just under the Blue Heron Blvd Bridge in Palm Beach County. This park is most popular for it's snorkeling and scuba diving in the Lake Worth Lagoon aka the Intracoastal Waterways. Just south of the bridge is a guarded swimming area that is well-marked. No diving is allowed in that area. The parking can be found north of the bridge along with the restrooms.
Bernstein Park
Bernstein Park is a public recreation park located just south f the Overseas Highway on Stock Island in the Keys. The park features baseball, basketball, and soccer areas with a concession stand. This park has been home to the Key West Rugby Club for over 0 years. Families can come out and enjoy a leisurely afternoon picnic at the park and let the kids play at the bright red playground.
Curry Hammock State Park
Curry Hammock State Park consists of a bunch of islands in the Middle Keys in Marathon. Come and enjoy a little bit of Florida's wild side by exploring the hardwood hammocks on these tropical islands, the wetlands, swamps and seagrass beds that are home to diverse wildlife. The park runs along both sides of US1 for 11 miles all the way to Long Key with the entrance found on the Atlantic Ocean side. The shallow water beach offers up to 1200 feet of sandy shoreline to enjoy.
Children's Rotary Park and Marathon's Dog Park
Children's Rotary Park and Marathon's Dog Park is a popular destination for local Marathon families. The park is located at 7575 Overseas Highway (corner of the Overseas highway and 75th Street ocean side) across from the Florida Keys Marathon Airport. The playground fuels the imagination with its lookout towers, Captain Hook's Ship and Thomas the Train play sets. Kids can scurry throw tunnels, fly high on the swing set or just run about.
Big Pine Key Community Park
Big Pine Key Community Park is a Monroe county park located on Big Pine Key north of the Overseas Highway on the water. The park sits on the eastern shore of Big Pine Key near the Spanish Harbor. This beautifully maintained park has recreation for everyone from a skate park to shuffleboard courts! This park was truly designed for optimal use and with families in mind. The playground is completely fenced with benches around the perimeter for supervising adults to relax.
Bayview Park
Bayview Park is located in a residential Key West neighborhood in the center of town. The park features 5 tennis courts, a large open field, basketball courts, playground and the Pepe Hernandez softball field. Ample parking is located on the perimeter of the park that is both pull in and streetside parallel spots. There are plenty of shady areas to enjoy a picnic as well as a pavilion for use. Restrooms are located within the park.
MLK Community Pool and Community Center
MLK Community Pool & Community Center was named in honor of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. This wonderfully well-maintained pool is FREE for use by all visitors to Key West and residents. Cool off or swim laps as you take in the gorgeous ocean views. The park is located at the intersection of Thomas and Catherine Streets. There is ample streetside parking on both streets. Get off the beaten path and enjoy Key West like a local.
Sombrero Beach Park
Sombrero Beach Park is located a few blocks south of US1 in Marathon. This well-maintained sandy beach front offers plenty of space to pick in the shade, let the kids run about on the playground, or take a dip in the water. Although Sombrero Beach Park is located in a residential neighborhood, it does have ample parking. You won't have to carry your beach gear far to get to the shore and the paths are partly shaded. Bring your snacks and picnic or plan to grill at the covered pavilions.
Islamorada Founders Park
Islamorada Founders Park is a very large community park operated by the village of Islamorada. The park is located on the Gulf of Mexico side of Islamorada just off mile marker 87 on the Overseas Highway. The park is a large well-manicured recreational facility primarily for use by local residents. Guests staying in nearby hotels can also use the facilities for free. All other guests must pay a per person fee for access to the park.
