Long Key State Park can be found at mile marker  67.5 on the Overseas Highway on Long Key.  This wonderful state park allows visitors to engage with nature either on foot along it's 2 paved trails, by kayak, or at your own campsite overnight.  This is a great park for kayaking and canoeing because of it's chain of lagoons filled with plant and animal life. The shoreline and canoe trails bring you out into the quiet where you have the chane to see starfish, horseshoe crabs, and maybe even a sea turtle.  Kayaks may be rented from the Ranger Station.  There is no marina nor boat ramp at this park for you to bring a motorized boat. 

Hike along the Golden Orb Trail for a chance to climb an observation tower.  Up high you will be able to see a 360 degree view of the island and its 5 natural habitats. The entire trail is a little over a mile.  The Layton Trail can be found on the bayside with short trails with views of the Florida Bay. Guided walks by a ranger as well as special park programming occur every week.  Please check before you go to see if there are any scheduled events to join. The park is a location on The Great Florida Birding Trail so you are in the perfect spot for a chance to observe wading, shore or migratory birds within the park. 

Stay for awhile on Long Key at one of the park's 60 campsites that all overlook the Atlantic Ocean.  Well-trained pets are welcome but are prohibited in restrooms, at the beach or at the picnic shelters.  The dogs must be kept leashed at all times. There is no commissary at the campgrounds just vending machines and ice.  Every campsite features a ground grill, picnic table, electricity and water.  In the middle of the campground are restrooms with hot showers.

The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. There are fees to enter the park as well as for campging. Check with the park for exact fees.
