Dottie Mancini Park
The Dottie Mancini Park in Fort Lauderdale, FL is a popular outdoor recreation area for the city's residents. Located on 6520 NE 22 Avenue, this beautiful 1.2 acre park is open 13 hours a day from 8 am to 9 pm at night.
Despite its small size, it has more facilities and amenities than would be expected. The first of these are two play areas. One is designed exclusively for children and has the usual swings, slides and climbing ladders. The other is an open play area where everyone else can have fun as well. There is also a picnic area for anyone desiring some quiet and relaxation picnic with family or friends. Sports and fitness lovers have not been left out either. There is a basketball court and a walking or jogging trail for them to enjoy. Pets are not allowed in this specific park. There are however, other designated areas within the city for animal lovers to take their pets along with them.
Since meeting the needs of all its citizens is one of the core values of the City of Fort Lauderdale, all parks are designed to be accessible to persons with disabilities. As such, they have accessible washrooms and disabled parking among others. Dottie Mancini Park for instance, is designed to be and designated as a boundless playground. The playground was renovated in 2014 and is nicely shaded with newer equipment. Any further information on the accessible facilities within the park is gladly provided by the city’s ADA event coordinator by calling 954-828-4612.
The park is available for private rentals. The fees are different for residents and non-residents. The former get a discounted rate. Park rules must be adhered to at all times. Alcohol and loud music are strictly forbidden. So is littering, the release of balloons or the damage of city property. Reservations can be made by calling 954-828-PARK during working hours on working days. The city can however cancel a reservation if it needs to host a public event in the park.
