January Morning at Lake Ida Park
The day before Winter Break ended for Palm Beach county public schools, I took a morning trip to the Lake Ida Dog Park. I had avoided this park for quite some time since I'd, incorrectly, assumed it was strictly a place for dogs to play. I had envisioned open fields with running dogs filled with little poop treasures for my kids to stumble through. I once tried driving into the long narrow park but saw only some parking and picnic pavilions.
Sugar Sand Park
The city of Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park located in southwest Boca Raton has every thing a family could want! We've been taking our boys to the park since they were able to crawl. We've never lived near by but it is definitely worth the trek. They host a free monthly Kindermusik class for the babies and young toddlers. In the same building is the Science Explorium which has an existing exhibit with an electric train, hot air balloon and a neat race car with power tools the children can play with safely.
Filling the Gap
The new school year has begun and for those of us with active school age children that can mean a flurry of activities--PTA, classroom events, and extracurricular pursuits. I find that the biggest challenge has been trying to find activities to "Fill the Gap" between when school gets out and when extracurricular activities begin (karate, music, dance, football, etc). I figured that I'm not alone. It can be a struggle to think of something to do to kill time for only an hour or two.
