Cauley Square Historic Railroad Village
From time to time, we all need to remind ourselves of our history, as it explains our present and predicts our future. When in South Florida, Cauley Square Historic Railroad Village is one of the best places to relive the 1900 railroad history. The village, which is located in Miami Dade County, is often described as the Nostalgic Village for its historic value to both locals and visitors.
The Cauley Square Historic Railroad Village’s name comes from William Cauley, a tomato farmer and a rich businessman who developed residential cottages, warehouses, offices and amenities along the railroad tracks in 1903. After destruction by the 1992 Hurricane Andrew, restoration began and now Cauley Square stands more beautiful than ever. It features about ten acres of gardens, birds, private patios, flowers and tropical canopies. There are also water fountains, statues, adorable plazas and breathtaking pathways through the woods. The gardens are best known for hosting events such as weddings, graduation parties, anniversaries and birthday parties.
Cauley Square is a great place to hang out with the whole family. The Tea Room is the most famous of Cauley Square niceties and serves delicious soups, salads and desserts for the whole family. The Village Chalet is the best bet for a special dinner or lunch with a loved one. The Latin Corner for ice cream and milk shake is highly recommended. Your children will love a ride on a pony and carriage and you will definitely love the rustic, friendly atmosphere. Collectors and non-collectors alike will love antique shopping in the cottages for artifacts from the 1900s. Whether you need a feel of the old South Florida or perhaps a quiet outdoor place to relax, Cauley Square Railroad Village meets all your needs. It does not only offer serenity in the middle of Miami, but also nostalgia and history lessons for the whole family.
