Islamorada Annual Island Fest
The 25th Islamorada Annual Island Fest will feature an Arts & Crafts show with approximately 100 local and national artists who will showcase their paintings, sculptures, photography and jewelry. Island Fest will also puts on other attractions such as live music, car show, activities for children, the Taste of Islamorada competition and much more. Children's activities include an opportunity to pain a life-sized dolphin statue, build sand castles and participate in a variety of contests. This event will take place at Founders Park on Saturday and Sunday April 9 & 10 and admission is FREE. This fun filled 2 day event is presented annually by the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to admiring the work on display, attendees will also be able to purchase works, which vary in price range and style. This year's Island Fest poster artist is by Big Pine Key local, Noel Skiba. Noel paints free style in acrylic and oil paints. This year's poster, entitled, "Palm Sunset in Paradise" is a gorgeous tropical sunset scene that is sure to be a hit. Noel will be available at the event both days to sign posters.
Back for its fifth year at Island Fest is the All-American Road Vintage Cruisers Car Show, featuring antique cars, trucks, motorcycles and rat rods. On Saturday, Cecilia Lauren and the Ocoee River Band will work the crowd with their energetic and edgy "redneck rock". The Miami blues band, Pit Bull of Blues is slated to perform Sunday afternoon and is known for pleasing crowds with a fantastic blues show. The Tim Charron band will also take the stage on Sunday, serving up their own brand of country rock with a twist of lime.
Kids will have a chance to paint a life-sized dolphin statue, build sand castles and compete in hula hoop contests. Teams will compete on Saturday to create the word "Island" out of colorful sand on the beach.
**NEW** 2016 "What Floats Your Boat?" home-made boat race. Participants will create a "boat" to enter in the race, which will begin at 1pm. No fee to enter but you need to pre-register to race.
