US Navy Fleet Week Boat Tours
The anchors will be dropping and the men/women in uniform will be swarming around Fort Lauderdale this May for the US Navy's Annual Fleet Week. Bring the entire family out to get an up close look at Amphibious attack ships, destroyers, submarines and more!
If you have a little naval cadet in the family who is just gaga over the military then this is an event you just can not miss out on! Tickets to the event are FREE but you need to pre-register for a specific ship and tour time. Security clearances need to be done so registration stops in mid-April!
During Fleet Week 2017, more than 12,000 South Florida students, residents and veterans will tour the visiting Navy and Coast Guard ships. Make sure you will be one of them by registering as soon as possible. You may only sign up for ONE of the boats and pick only 1 day to tour. Bring your camera and capture a frameable memory! SATURDAY IS ALL BOOKED.
This year will host:
Amphibious Transport Dock - USS New York
Destroyer - USS Nitze
Cruisers - USS San Jacinto and USS Monterey
Nuclear Submarine - To Be Announced
Cutters - USCGC Forward and USCGC Margaret Norvell
What you need to know before you go:
*Tours for children under age 8 are prohibited--sorry :(
*You must be physically capable of climbing steep ladders etc.
*Wear sensible clothing...leave the clogs, heels, and flip flops at home.
*Portions of the tour may be outside so bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
*This event will be held at Terminal 21, Fort Lauderdale's Port Everglades. Make sure to arrive early to go through security.
*There is only 1 weekend date (Saturday May 7th) SO unless you live local or plan to take the kiddos out of school you need to hurry to secure your weekend appointment.
