Dyer Park

Body

Dyer Park in West Palm Beach is regarded as one of the top 5 Palm Beach County places that tourists and locals love to visit. Dyer Park (Haverhill Road, West Palm Beach, FL) is located very close to Military Trail and Blue Heron. This park is one of the best places for running, biking or playing soccer. The less adventurous use this park for their daily morning walks or a casual stroll in the afternoon. Originally the park area was used as a dump and was turned into this beautiful park; so there are many small hills all around.

The park has many facilities in a bid to attract families and young tourists –

•  Soccer fields

•  Baseball fields

•  Sand volleyball courts

•  Basketball courts

•  A children’s play area and

•  A picnic area with grills

  • radio-controlled airplane/helicopter facility (must be insured member of Academy of Model Aeronautics)

The playground area is quite huge and the children love playing here for endless hours. There is also a path on which you can walk and run and even look down at the rest of the park. The Bicycle Path is a great hit among the young crowd and it runs for 4.12 miles. If you are into Mountain biking then use the Mountain Bike trail which is all of 3.2 miles. There are basically 3 sets of biking paths here and there is a paved path that is about 5 miles long. The perimeter track is a lot of fun but is mostly flat and the only challenge comes from some of the roots. Otherwise the tracks are pretty easy and are great for even beginners. Since the tracks are shaded by the trees, it is not a bad idea to bike down the trail in the hot Florida sun. There are good Restroom Facilities which comes in handy for families who are coming here with small children.

The park is one of the primary attractions of the West Palm Beach area and it is surprising to note that although it is built on an old garbage dump, the whole area remains totally odor free. The Dyer Park in West Palm Beach is a must visit place for anybody coming to South Florida for the first time.
