Sportsplex at Coral Springs

Body

The Coral Springs Sportsplex is located between Royal Palm Boulevard and Sample Road in northern Broward county.  This  180.8 acre park includes a world class Aquatic Complex, the Tennis Center of Coral Springs, Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, Dr. Steven G. Paul Dog Park and typical park amenities as well.  Picnic tables, a walking/jogging trail, playground and meeting rooms are also available for use.

The Coral Springs Aquatic Complex consists of 4 swimming pools, a small kiddie water playground, swim shop and a full fitness center.  Divers can use a dedicated diving pool with  9, 7.5 and 10-Meter Platforms.  The pool may be rented for private parties and events.  Classes and clubs, including a synchronized swim team, are supported at this complex.

The Tennis Center of Coral Springs is an award-winning facility that consists of 12 green har-tru courts played on by some tennis celebrities.  Tennis lessons are offered by  USPTA certified instructors.  Tennis summer camps are also offered for local youth.  Access to the programming and courts requires membership.  The membership may allow access to other local tennis centers.

Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital is a not-for-profit organization that rescues injured or orphaned wildlife.  Their mission is also to educate the community about South Florida's wildlife and environment.  They rescue over 700 animals every year including pets surrendered by their owners.  They offer a summer wildlife camp and provide on-site and off-site programs to school groups.  The admission charge is $5 for adults and $3 for children 5-17, all proceeds help support their efforts.

The Dr. Steven G. Paul Dog Park was built in the late 1990s in honor of the late local veternarian as a place for dogs to jump hurdles, climb ramps, leap through a hanging tire, follow an oval walking trail or just run and play.  Inside the park you'll find a paved running path, agility equipment, a watering area and shower for dogs, xeriscaped landscaping, small dog open areas, "pooper scooper" bag dispensers, trash barrels, a Memorial Board, a gazebo with picnic benches and a doggie airlock outside both exits.  Entrance is free.
