Delray Beach Historical Society


The Delray Beach Historical Society museum and gardens is located at the corner of Swinton Ave and NE 1st Street just one block north of bustling Atlantic Avenue.

The Delray Beach Historical Society was established in 1964 and consists of a cluster of old Florida cottages on a lush campus.

Call ahead to check for hours or to schedule a docent lead tour. School groups, homeschoolers and visitors of all ages can learn the fascinating history of this South Florida town.

Sawgrass Recreation Park


Sawgrass Recreation Park in Weston is a wildlife adventure park that features airboat rides, wildlife encounters and exhibits.  Venture out in the the Everglades and get a taste of a true Florida experience.  Learn about the Everglades ecosystem and even some history of The Everglades.  See exotic native animals up close and watch an interpretive talk about the critters.  In the Reptile Exhibit watch an alligator handler show the power of the gator or allow your little one to hold a baby alligator!

The Riverwalk

Still partially in construction, it will measure 2.5 miles when fully completed and allows visitors to experience great views along the Intracoastal Waterway shoreline on the south of the inlet. Since 2011 it has also connected with the Eastcoast Greenway - a 3,000 mile trail between Key West and Maine.

Zoological Wildlife Foundation


Committed to raising awareness about endangered species, the Zoological Wildlife Foundation in Miami, Florida also doubles up as a top notch family destination. Spread over an area of 5 acres, the zoo houses a range of animals including African lions, Amur leopards, Brown lemur, prairie dogs, servals, bengal tigers among several other rare and exotic species. The Loxahatchee River Environmental Center in Jupiter Florida, or River Center as it’s more commonly known, opened in August 2008. The River Center has become a favorite of locals and tourists alike, many of whom are interested in wildlife and river conservation. Flamingo Gardens


 There is a spot in Davie, Florida, part of Broward County, that is a beautiful, colorful, great place for families to visit. The Flamingo Gardens is a botanical garden featuring over 3000 species of rare, exotic, tropical, subtropical, and native plants and trees. There is also an Everglades wildlife sanctuary that houses Florida's largest collection of native animals including alligators, bobcats, eagles, panthers, peacock, otters and flamingos.

If you are in South Florida and want a place to take your family that is extra special, someplace that they will be talking about for a long time, then you need to go to the Panther Ridge Conservation Center. The center is a privately owned non-profit facility that provides a home and expert care for endangered big cats like leopards, cheetahs, cougars, jaguars, and more.
