Palm Beach Mini Maker Faire will be held at the South Florida Science Center in West Palm Beach this May 13th!  

Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these “makers” to show hobbies, experiments, projects.

We call it the Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth — a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness.

All workshops and performances are included in admission to the Maker Faire and Science Center.

11:00 am – 11:45 am        Workshop: Learn to Solder (Discovery 3)  – Learn the basics of soldering with our mini spaceship soldering kits provided by Jaycon Systems. All participants must sign waiver. (Ages 7+)

12:00 pm – 12:30 pm       Workshop: DIY Fossil Molds (Discovery 1)  – Learn how fossils are formed as we make replica dinosaur claws using clay, fossils, and plaster of Paris. (Age 10+)

12:00 pm – 12:45 pm        Workshop:  Minecraft Creations with Perler Beads (Discovery 3) –  Bring your favorite Minecraft characters to life as we go old school with perler beads!(Ages 5+)

12:00 pm & 2:30 pm       Demonstration: Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream by the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium (Main Stage)  — Experience the science of cryogenics as we use liquid nitrogen to make creamy ice cream. (All ages welcome)

1:00 pm – 1:45 pm     Workshop: Incredible Creations by Professor Clark The Science Shark (Discovery 1) – This workshop will teach you how to turn common household materials into amazing and movable creatures! (Ages 5+)

2:00 pm – 2:45 pm            Workshop: 3D Printing Demonstration and Talk by ALLAXIS 3D Printers (Discovery 1)

This demonstration will illustrate how easy it is to begin 3D printing.  Alex Lorenzo, President of ALLAXIS 3D Printers, will explain how 3D printing works, how easy it is to do and how important it is to become familiar with the technology.  (Ages 8+)

3:45 pm            Demonstration: Liquid Nitrogen Explosion (Main Stage) Stand back and scream as the South Florida Science Center Educators create the most explosive physical reaction you’ve ever seen! (All ages welcome)
