Big Cat Race 5K
Palm Beach Zoo's Big Cat Race will be held on May 4th at 7:30 AM. The Big Cat Race is a 5K that the entire family can enjoy whether they are racers or spectators. Spectators for the race automatically get free zoo entry and racers will receive an eco-friendly medal and a vanity bib. For more information about the race or to register, please visit palmbeachzoo.org. PARKING: For the safety of all, please follow the directions of the parking attendants. Parking is available in the main Zoo parking lot until about 6:30am. Additional parking is available just across Summit Blvd. in lots A, B & C of Dreher Park South. Allow 10-15 minutes to walk from outer lots and still arrive at check in by 7:00am. All parking is free. TIMING: This run is chip-timed. Your bib has an electronic chip that starts your timer when you pass the starting line. We do ask that walkers and slower runners stage a little farther back in the pack to allow faster runners a clear path at the start. Due to insurance considerations - NO strollers, skateboards, bicycles, wagons allowed on the course, nor pets/animals. RACE COURSE: Course Map will be posted soon. VANITY BIBS: All runners registered by April 1, 2019 will have their first name on the Bib. T-SHIRTS: The new event T-shirt is a Sport Tek - Shirts come in Men's cut and Women's v-neck CONSERVATION OPPORTUNITIES: Runners arriving on foot, bicycle or car-pool (4 or more runners in a vehicle) can enter into a drawing for a special drawing. Please look for the volunteer with the entry forms near the parking lot entrance. RUNNING SHOE RECYCLE: We’ll have a running shoe recycling bin near the race-day tables. Those shoes will be turned into playground surfaces. PROCEEDS: Net proceeds from this run help fund the Palm Beach Zoo’s partnership with Wildlife Conservation Society to protect animals in the wild. VOLUNTEERS: If you are interested in volunteering for the race - please contact Erin Hitsman.
