Biologist Beach Walks
Sea turtle Hatchlings are here! The Biologist Beach Walk program at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center will last 9 weeks beginning the first week of August and run through the end of September. The program will be offered three days a week: Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Times: 6:45 am - 8:30 am. Get up early and don't miss this unforgettable experience!
With permission from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, a permitted staff member will lead guests down onto Juno or Tequesta beaches to discuss the nesting and hatching processes of sea turtles. After an introduction to these processes, guests may have the opportunity to witness a live excavation and create their own data sheets (optional) to take home as a memento.
The Biologist beach Walk program is $12 per person and $10 for LMC members. Walk-ins are a flat rate of $15, and a spot is not guaranteed. All individuals, including children, are required to pre-register online to reserve their spot. Children must be 8 years or older to attend the program and all participants must be able to walk up to half a mile in soft sand. Handicap assistance is not available for this program. Limited to only 15 people so sign up early!!!
There is no guarantee that a nest will be available for excavation and there is no guarantee that guests will be able to observe hatchlings in their natural environment. All scheduled Biologist Beach Walks have the same odds of the group experiencing a nest excavation with live hatchlings. There are no refunds on tickets if a nest is not excavated or hatchlings are not seen.
