Off Season Beach Bliss! Gulfstream Park
This morning we got out the door by 7am and trotted off to one of our favorite beach spots, Gulfstream Park in the Boynton Beach area. This park is so popular during the season that the usual "get there early" advice still doesn't really help ya much. People spend forever trolling the parking lot just to be able to enjoy the facilities. This morning all the front spaces were available and there was only a handful of folks there. The boys made a bee line for the shore area. We enjoyed a low key morning digging in the sand, collecting "treasures" and rolling in the surf. As the morning wore on, a few more people came and set up their little oasis on the sand. The sun was hiding behind the clouds so we got to stay much later than the usual summer 10am curfew (usually by 10 am outdoor activity is a no go in our house). We also were able to play on the new playground equipment. There was a twang of sadness to see the old set go since the boys had played on it since infancy BUT this set seems a lot safer and the new mulch ground cover is a lot more sanitary. It's graded for ages 5-12 so please keep a close eye on younger children. There are a couple of cut outs on top for kids climbing up the rock wall or stone tower so be careful that smaller ones don't try to go down and fall. Whenever we come to this park I often think how lucky I am to be a native and call places like this home. People come from all over the world to enjoy this park and I get it almost to myself in the off-season. My own little slice of paradise.
